Discotech

Discotech strikes again.

Taking the classics...

The Rolling Stones - Satisfaction (Discotech Remix) (zshare)

Awesome "instrumental break" at about 1:47 by the way.

And cashing in on the new...

Coldplay - Viva La Vida (Discotech Remix) (zshare)

Autotune

I'm gonna punch the next person in the eye that claims T-Pain was the first popular artist to use autotune, or that he made the first autotune song and brought it to attention.

Autotune is not T-Pain's invention or idea.

Cher - Believe

Daft Punk - One More Time

That sound, that autotune, seem familiar?
Cher's Believe...1998. That's eleven full years ago.
Daft Punk's One More Time...2000. That's nine full years ago.
T-Pain...born in 1985. Unless he hit mainstream with an autotune hit when he was 13...it's safe to say he didn't bring autotune to mainstream music.

Shuv It

Kinda like the Tony Hawks move, but spelled gangsterrr.

Anyways, thank me (and Three 6 Mafia, as well as the music blog The Mad Decent) for this one later.

Brooklyn, we go haaarrrd.

Asher Roth

From the Rap Basement once again, little background from Asher himself. Just don't pay attention to who's conducting the interview...

An Interview with Asher Roth About Beginnings, Being Discovered and Rapping for Jay-Z

And later on the show...

...Asher's guitarist can shred.

DJ Lobsterdust

Besides this DJ looking like a complete toolbag in this picture, DJ Lobsterdust is really talented in making mashups and remixes. Here a few, but many more can be found on his website.

DJ Lobsterdust - Walkin' Out Yo Girlfriend (sharebee)
DJ Lobsterdust - Right Now, Right Now (sharbee)
DJ Lobsterdust - My Irreplaceable (sharebee)
DJ Lobsterdust - DeCexyLong (sharebee)

I think my favorite out of these four is the last one, DeCexyLong.

Good News!

Stumbled across this article at The Rap Basement:

"iTunes is already offering over 8 million songs DRM-free and by March it hopes to release another 2 million more, rounding out it's entire 10 million song catalog. "

Yeah, yeah, yeah. More importantly:

"Apple also says that it will have a new pricing system for iTunes coming in April. The new system will offer older songs for $0.69 (opposed to the current $0.99 price tag) but new songs will continue to be $0.99 plus new Billboard hits will actually be higher with a $1.29 bill."

Billboard hits are more expensive, new songs are no longer the lowest price, starting in April. Maybe people will start to do some music exploration, moving away from the top 40, to save some cash. Doubt iTunes has that much influence though. It's a step in the right direction perhaps? Whatever. I'm happy about it. 69 cents a song is sweet. Guess I'll have to pay a little extra for those Katy Perry jams, damn.

I'm sure apple news has a wee bit more extensive article if you care to read more. But you can go find that one on your own. I'm content with this.

Straight Hood (Internet)

Got another jam from The Hood Internet. I have yet to be let down by these guys, their remixes and mashups are flawless. Enjoy this one.

Something's up with the picture upload on the site. Don't let the bland appearance of a picture-less post dissuade you from downloading this.

Happy New Years!

New years goodies!

Cousin Cole, yes the Cousin Cole, remixed "Jizz in my Pants." It's frickin awesome.

Jizz in My Pants (Cousin Cole House Edit) (zshare)

Here's the original video for those who live under a rock. I don't think I'll ever be able to enjoy the original song the same way after this edit just shat on it.

Oh, and if you do live under that rock, you also don't know about Eminem's new album dropping soon. I'm pretty anxious to hear what Em's been up to, I think I have more anticipation for Eminem's "Relapse" than I had for Kanye's new album.

I mean, if every track is as good as this one, then Eminem is back. We missed you Em.

Eminem - Crack a Bottle (sharebee)

Lastly, I've got a wrap up of 2008 for you. Quite literally. Every year, Skillz wraps up the year in a nice rap for us. Well he's back again to look back on 2008 with us, highlighting the bests and worsts.

"Wayne sold a milli in a week, but in 7 days, I got sick of the A Milli beat."

(P.S. Here you go Marc! LMNT - Hey Juliet. If you haven't heard this, then you must have downs syndrome. Download it asap if you're that dumb.)
