I'm gonna punch the next person in the eye that claims T-Pain was the first popular artist to use autotune, or that he made the first autotune song and brought it to attention.

Autotune is not T-Pain's invention or idea.

Daft Punk's One More Time...2000. That's nine full years ago.
T-Pain...born in 1985. Unless he hit mainstream with an autotune hit when he was 13...it's safe to say he didn't bring autotune to mainstream music.
