Honestly, I could feature a mash-up artists several times a month probably. What's happening out there is great. The mash-up style music is getting more and more popular, and the more popular something gets, the more competitive it gets. The more competitive it gets, the better quality of music is made. So this week's mash-up artist feature goes by the name of Milkman. After going through his website and pictures, it seems like he sets up shows the same way Girl Talk does, but with a little bit more complex of a set up. It looks like he rocks two laptops and a few MIDI controllers as well. Anyway, his music is quality, and it appears he's already blown up big time, at least locally. Check out the couple of his songs that I'm blogging, snag his first album for free, and consider buying his second album from his website (navigate with the tabs up top). These albums are really long and you won't be getting gipped for money, that's for sure. And plus, it's nice to hear a lot (A LOT) of unique samples, there's not many samples that have been played out by Girl Talk and others in these albums (honestly, when have you heard Atmosphere's "Sunshine" sampled?).
Here's a relatively simple track from his debut album "Lactose and THC", followed by a more complex track.
Milkman - Clap for Me
Milk Man - I Want You Back
(Like I said before, every good mash up artist/album features Jackson 5's I Want You Back)
And I'll leave you with two tracks off of Milkman's second album (not free), entitled "Circle of Fifths."
Milkman - Rap Music is Beneath Me
Milkman - Good Sex
(Yes, that's Mmmbop that you hear sampled)
