Dreams Up

A little behind on the posting of this one, but some new(ish) Hoodie Allen coming at you. This kid is my favorite of the upcoming; keep a look out for this kid.

Just taking a quick look back here, let's see one of the last times someone blew up and followers of this blog were way ahead of the curve.

The Cataracs mixtape, which featured the collaboration with Far East Movement, "Like a G6" was posted on February 26th. That was featured roughly 6 months before it hit radio. You heard it here first!

Hoodie Allen...remember the name.

Can a Drummer Get Some?

Travis Barker is back, collaborating with all sorts of people to produce drum-heavy masterpieces. This first single off his upcoming album hits hard both musically and lyrically. Keep an eye out for his upcoming album, Give the Drummer Some.

With Your Friends (Long Drive)

I've sat on this song for a little while, but it's definitely time to share it. I'm not sure what genre I would even put this into, but it's too unique and sounds too good to not enjoy.

A Request from Me

Please allow me to take a break from my regular music postings to address you with a request.

Readers and followers,

In May 2011, I will be embarking on a trip to Africa with two goals. Climb Mt. Kilimanjaro, the world's largest free standing mountain, and help renovate schools for children in Tanzania.

Thanks to Childreach International USA (childreachusa.org), I am able to have the opportunity to achieve both of these goals. I have a set fundraising goal of $5,000 that will go towards Childreach, schools for children in Tanzania and the expenses of travel to and from Africa, as well as up the mountain.

As specified by Childreach, the money raised will be used primarily to support the School Improvement Programs and Vocational Training Centers in Tanzania. This past year, the program benefited 2,894 children in Tanzania by renovating classrooms, providing new supplies and building toilet and kitchen facilities. The Vocational Training Centers aim to help socially excluded and/or vulnerable children by teaching them practical skills to increase their chances of employment later in life. In 2009, the training centers taught carpentry, training, IT, math, and basic English to 125 young adults.

I am seeking help in reaching my $5,000 fundraising goal and I would really appreciate any donation you feel comfortable giving; I can assure you it's going to a great cause. Thanks so much.

Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or would like more information.

There may be a brief mentioning of this time to time, but you can expect the normal music posts to resume next post. Thank you for your time.

Regards,
Brandon "DJ BK" Kaplan

I Just Had Sex

Even more shouts to illRoots.

Not sure why these guys have been popping up in my life so much recently, but Lonely Island hilarious, so I don't mind. I love when they just say fuck it and don't go for rhymes. Good to see Akon with a sense of humor. Great break down at 2:00.

Gotta Get Up

Shouts to illRoots for this one. Asher Roth and D.A. go over a great piano riff, produced by Notz, for this latest leak off his upcoming mixtape, The Rawth EP, dropping on the 27th.

All For Love

Two posts in one night? It's finals week, why not? We're gonna go another direction and bring it back to the 90s with this Color Me Badd track. It was so cool to substitute words for numbers in the 90s. 4 real.
